Despite their efforts to keep to themselves, Zeus (Michael Ironside), the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, continues to plague The Kid and Apple.
I love B-movies from the 80's because they have a special atmosphere to them which I cannot describe, a fun, silly one that doesn't require itself goodness to be good. The gore was traditional non-CG and had a great 80's feel to it. With Munro Chambers. The year is 1997. , But it was all in fun - the mayhem and violence was not too over-the-top explicit (okay, there was the scene with the guy's guts being ripped out by a bicycle), and I had the feeling the actors were having fun with it. A lot of the runtime focuses on the friendship between The Kid and Apple, and how her happy-go-lucky attitude is a stark contrast to his coy, safe existence. Turbo Kid takes place in the a post-apocalyptic future of 1997. The little bit of C.G. Armed with only his faith and an ancient turbocharged weapon, known as The Turbo Glove, The Kid learns about justice and friendship as he embarks on a journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl of his dreams.

In a post-apocalyptic world where water is king; an orphaned kid named The Kid spends his days riding his BMX bike and scavenging the edges of the wasteland searching for anything he can use to trade to a local bartender for his favorite comic book, Turbo Rider. The film knows well the style of the B-movies from the 80's and creates itself as a perfect replica of them, while also referencing the films that inspired this intentional cheese fest. This film is independent movie gold. In the post-apocalyptic future of 1997, a young man known only as The Kid (Munro Chambers), is a young solitary scavenger who is obsessed with comic books, primarily that of a superhero known as Turbo Rider, must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl named Apple (Laurence Leboeuf). It is beautifully made and entertaining for the full running time. One film series in particular pretty much kicked off the entire post-apocalyptic film genre, Mad Max. Report This. "Turbo Kid" is a post-apocolypic comedy that I've seen described as "Mad Max meets BMX." Anouk Whissell, Basic post-apoc tropes apply, and it makes no attempt to be anything other than what it is.
