Christmas came early for Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev as the couple welcomed a baby girl called Maven on Sunday.Revealing the news online, Rachel wrote: ‘After keeping us waiting she came so quickly we didn’t have a chance to get to the hospital and was born in our bathroom with our amazing doula and wonderful St Mary’s midwives rushing over to be with us in the nick of time!‘She’s absolutely perfect and Pasha and I are in newborn bliss. Would you like to follow Maeve?Maeve appears in Irish mythology in two forms, one as the powerful Queen of Connacht, the other as the queen of the fairies. All the Maeves I know personify this gorgeous name perfectly, and I think it's a great way to honor an Irish heritage. And now, 3 years later, my husband and I are seriously considering this name for our Feb 2018 baby, a little sister to Arthur. Maeve appears in Irish mythology in two forms, one as the powerful Queen of Connacht, the other as the queen of the fairies. My middle name is Mae, but I prefer this as a middle name. Makes me think of a pretty redhead with green eyes. When it comes to vintage or classic names, I prefer Charlotte, Maisie, Grace, Elsie, Josephine, Amelia, Rose... Emilie!
I just like the way it rolls off my tongue. I can't find a source.I feel like this is the perfect combination of trendy and classicNameberry is a registered trademark of Nameberry, LLC. All About The Name Maven Maven (May-vin) is a word meaning: “one who understands”. It's funny how tastes change!I love this name...however, not a huge fan of the meaning.I know a little girl with this name. Rachel and Pasha’s baby girl’s full name is Maven Aria Riley Kovaleva, with the 33-year-old explaining its meaning online. As long as my future daughter never learns the meaning, she'd have a very unique name given to very few girls.I feel like this name is incomplete for some reason. My best friend’s little sister is called Maeve, I used to find it confusing and quite hard to pronounce (she pronounced it ‘May-vuh’) but now I adore it!I agree with the positive comments! I predict the former: Maeve is, while nothing “classic”, delicate and sweet enough to last for several more years.Emilie can be pronounced differently albeit slightly.Great name! I had never heard it until I met her and she made me instantly fall in love with it. The name Mave means Intoxicating and is of Irish origin. I don't like how it sounds at all, only like the meaning lolGood explanation! Or will Maeve reach its peak, overstay it’s welcome, and then immediately decline in popularity? Siobhan is a perfect example.May-Vee is NOT better than the way this name is supposed to be said..I used to think that this name was just 'meh' and didn't understand it's NB popularity. (not the overused Emily... Emilie <3)Me neither.
Sounds to me like it's incomplete, or someone just whacked a 'v' sound in the name May. Maeve of Connacht was a warrior queen, famous for starting a war in attempt to steal her ex-husband’s stud bull. I used to think the pronunciation was May-vee (which, personally I feel sounds much prettier), but I dislike the abruptness of Maeve. I loved it when I thought it was pronounced Mayv-E and I like the name Maevea because the "A" makes it sound complete to me. some nicknames we use are may-bug and mavie :)I'm not sure about this name I can't decided if I like it or not! Maeve sounds strong and bold, feminine and lively, plus has a classic yet modern feel to it. I love Maeve, I think it sounds so simple and feminine. It will produce questions on how to pronounce it and the way it's spelled is strange.
