I have recently found myself interested in them again (of course after I gave away all of mine and when the majority of them are still out of print!). While it had some seriously sad issues to deal with, so you may want to think twice about some younger kids...but my 7 and 12 year old were able to grasp the gGreat book while we're studying the Revolutionary War. America just gained it's independence from England, but the fighting hasn't ceased. Though the book is fictional it revolves around real people and real events.
