";s:4:"text";s:4360:"Archived. I don't think there'd be any way to block other mobs from spawning without also affecting chaos elementals. Spawns can initiate in mid-air before manifesting on the ground, so having a low ceiling impacts the spawn rate. And for accessories anything with Shiny Stone and maybe Spore Sac? That's really nice and simple, I like it.
Do you mean outside the "safe" (screen-sized) box? Neat! Dig, fight, explore, build! Might be useful for those who want to farm for the rod but without much expense. Despawning of unwanted mobs can further be increased with a lava tray just outside of the inner box. Posted by 6 years ago.
You'd essentially be dictating where mobs can spawn. Farming for chaos elementals is only useful up until you have the rod of discord, whereas most mobs are farmed for their resources, so it makes a lot more sense to spend time optimizing/preparing their farms and the areas around them... anyway, I digress. 2. Wouldn't that run the risk of accidentally killing chaos elementals oustide the collection area? The only reason I had walls was so that I could set a spawn so that if a mimic or something killed me I'd just respawn there. Also you said that one of the biggest mistakes people make is making the spawn area too long. General. I've been trying to farm the Rod of Discord for a while, and I built a semi-afk farm based off of HappyDay's one. Pretty good farm it is especially the filtering. Close. Furthermore, the Skeleton Merchant is a big issue in these farms - your pic is a perfect example of how the merchant basically kills the farm. He teleports around quickly, and attempts to make contact with the player often, though he doesn't have a means of ranged attack. But thats just my two cents. Since Rune Wizards don't activate pressure plates, a farm such as the one you presented is a ticking time bomb until a Rune Wizard kills you with fireballs that go through walls. Thanks, I'll try all this out this afternoon :). I made an Underground Hallow farm to get the Rod of Discord. I supposed you could make some kind of trap that takes advantage of different AI types to selectively kill/teleport unwanted mobs, while allowing chaos elementals to live?
