The story is set in the late 1930s, and while it is an original screenplay you could be forgiven for thinking it's an adaption of an early graphic novel, what with the intrepid reporter Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) in search of a story and her sometimes on, then off again boyfriend Sky Captain (Jude Law) who spends most of his time saving the world.
I love the way this is filmed and gave me the feeling I was looking at a faithful reproduction of a 50's style science fiction magazine.
