It was an authentic representation of the effect of a terminal disease on loved ones, and although a tear-jerker, ended with hope. I join all the voices that ask for this movie on DVD. I remember the movie as very simple, but very powerful.

Shirley is right. I thought this movie was excellent.I have been looking for it for a long time, since it has not been on TV. One of the things I remember well is when she is dying, and her cat stays with her on the bed all day , she comments that the cat will stay until she is ready to die.
I was so impressed that I went to see it again in theaters.
I just cannot seem to find it anywhere. I now realize it was the first time I ever heard of this terrible thing called cancer. Menu. 18 out of 18 found this helpful. I’m not interested in seeing that decision romanticized. I remember that I cried like a baby.
I would love to have a DVD or video of it to share with the four children I now have.
I saw this wonderful movie in the early 70's with my best friend Sally at the age of 20.

(my 3 children, relatives and friends) I was 18 when I saw this movie and from that time on I had nicked named her dad sunshine, instead of the same old names honey, babe, sweetheart etc. This above all other movies made a profound impact on my life at twelve, and constantly ever since. 12 out of 12 found this helpful.
They will really understand why I came up with the name SUNSHINE.

We could all use more delight at and passion for the things he cared about deeply, and his simple but strong messages.Twilight Time and Redwind should be commended for taking the risk to bring something that has been out of the limelight back into the current discussion, and in having done so with care and passion.JavaScript is disabled. The relationship between the two protagonists was realistically portrayed and helped me have a more mature attitude to love and the sacrifices it may involve, as I was growing up.

Not long after seeing the movie I found the novel and have re-read it many times.
I have looked at the library and the video stores. Seriously, we need to get organized about this.
That movie had such an impact on me. I can see Was her name Jill as clearly as if I had watched this yesterday. What happened?
Has anyone found it? Was this review helpful? To release another movie with the same name and totally different subject is deceiving and not right. The only difference was that our love held us together ...she, and the cat, passed on in 1994.

I saw this movie when I was a teenager and I absolutely loved it. Recently I saw an old battered copy of "Sunshine" and how close this "movie" is to the truth. My hope is that some writer, maybe someone from the L.A. Times where Jaquelyn Helton's story appeared, or Carol Sobieski (sp?)

In a world flooded with movies full of violence, bad language and hatred lets have "Sunshine" (1973) for a change! It's also a heart warming movie. Was this review helpful? I watched it as a kid and remember every episode... Also there was a movie called My Sweet Lady Sunshine part 11, It was shown in London.
