Try this creative characterization exercise: Write your character’s eulogy.Sarah Gribble is the best-selling author of dozens of short stories that explore uncomfortable situations, basic fears, and the general awe and fascination of the unknown. Sometimes when I’m writing I get stuck on one aspect of my character’s nature or how I expect them to be.
You are probably thinking, “Wait, Did I read that right?
A eulogy is a speech given in honor of a loved one who has passed away. Picking a favorite song for them or associating a certain song to a particularly important part of their lives is a great way to get “brainstorming.” All of these will force you to think of your villain as a person, not just a character.Lastly, think about who is attending this funeral.
