Since we've started using Slack we've experienced an unreliable notification system where we wouldn't notice we got a new message hours later especially with threads. Similar to Slack, Flowdock features open, invite only, and one-to-one chats. I will say hands down there's some intangible, some ineffable thing to Slack that makes it just better than anything else I've used for a "in the hallway" or "around the water cooler" chat experience.All that said, this article is garbage and serves only to provide landing points onto this garbage site.Great read. Their threads are color-coded so you can easily navigate between topics and organize your team’s communication. Stride isn't ready yet but it looks interesting.That looked promising but it doesn't support threads :( And apparently they're not planning on introducing the feature.We got to beta test stride.
Flowdock is a Slack alternative that organizes conversation by threads. Cross-platform. Real-time … I suggest some of the alternatives of Slack are Contus Fly, Hipchat, Flock, Apphitect IM. My company recently switched from Flowdock to Slack. This is an open source option, and I believe it's written using meteor which is sweet.It also has an import feature to import your slack users, channels and messages into RocketChat.Only 1 real significant bug we've found but it's a simple fix we're about to check in. Slack is where work flows. Free and paid options.

I feel that one of Slack's main perks is the ability to integrate it with almost anything.Wow first thing I see is a box blocking the content offering me to sign up for some bullshit.BTW we just installed Mattermost, which does not show up in that list, and we love it.Lot of negatives here about the article, I don't know why, but some of my clients cannot afford Slack.
